About Us
Peering Policy
Primus Telecommunications Peering Policy
- Primus is willing to peer publicly with networks that are connected to two or more exchange points we have in common in any region. If you require a more formal agreement, contact us and we will make arrangements. Please review and use our standard Bi-Lateral Peering Agreement. We will accept a peer provided agreement in lieu, subject to Primus legal review.
- Primus will accept contracts that specify global
or regional routes.
- Global peers will receive advertisements for all Primus networks and customers.
- Regional peers will receive advertisements for the applicable subset of Primus backbone and customer routes, as specified by AS-MACRO in the RADB, RIPE, or APNIC registry.
- Routes received at any exchange can be specified as global or regional either by contract or informal agreement.
- All regional agreements are considered two-way, and Primus will accept only valid advertisements specified in an AS-MACRO.
- Primus summarizes blocks to minimize the number of announcements and flaps.
- Primus uses both direct sessions and the common switch fabric, with a preference for direct sessions.
Peer Criteria
- Company must have a valid Autonomous System Number (ASN)
- Company must have a Carrier class Router capable of BGP4 and the technical capability to run BGP4
- Must advertise the same number of routes on all sessions.
- Must have a 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC) with qualified technicians available to solve problems.
- Must have personnel available and agree to cooperate in addressing security and security related issues.
- Peers will agree not to default any traffic to each other's network. Company must not intentionally attempt to transmit viruses, Spam or denial of service attacks.
Policy Notices
- Primus reserves the right to terminate any peering relationship at will, for violations to the above policies, or in accordance with contract terms, if applicable.
- Primus reserves the right to modify the aforementioned policies without notice.
Private Peering
Primus will peer with any company in a Private Peering arrangement where traffic exchanged meets mutually agreed levels and ratios. Private Peering will be setup at a minimum of two (2) separate exchange points. Private Peerings will be maintained only while the traffic levels and ratios remain economically justified for Primus. All Private Peers will meet the criteria defined above and agrees that the bandwidth of the Private Peering connection will be determined by current and periodic (6 month) reviews of traffic exchange. Private peering will be done on a negotiated basis with location and cost as agreed to by both parties.
